A few minutes ago I asked joel-jansen about units-takeoff, specifically if I should provide a GFI for each bathroom even if the receptacles are on the same circuit, which he confirmed.
I was pleased at his response, since it appeals to my sensibilities as electrician and estimator:
- A receptacle downstream of a GFI in another room is a bad install, since it is unintuitive and inconvenient to troubleshoot.
- Because of the previous, the EC may end up paying for the extra GFI's anyway, either because of a missed specification, contract clause, etc. or because production may assume they are required.
Noting my pleasure, Joel commented that he is always glad when he is able to give me directions that I'm happy to receive.
I didn't acknowledge the comment at first, but now I wonder at the implication. I don't want to be a downer or a difficult person to give feedback.
