This week (2025w51)
[[2025w51|This week]]
William Bonn, as part of [[units-takeoff]] for Howard University East Towers,
used an `Area` "Typical - Unit Balconies" for `Phase` "UNIT - RESIDENTIAL" takeoff.
Our senior Joel Jansen approved of the method.

## "Free-Air Per Code"
Direction for [[telecom-takeoff]] and [[low-voltage-takeoff]]
concerning the proper interpretation of "free-air per code"
as used by [[pdi-estimating#Bid Estimating|Bid]] to qualify our scope.
> [!quote] [[charlotte-south-end-hotel]] Proposal 2025-12-12 Ex. B Notes
> * All Fire Alarm and Low Voltage cabling
> is to \[be\] installed via free-air
> in all areas excepted \[sic.\] by code
Strictly speaking, requirements for communications wiring
(governed by [[nfpa-70_national-electric-code#^ch8|NEC Chapter 8]])
are minimal.
> [!quote] Joel Jansen 2026-03-24 (pp.)
> If rough-in for Telecom or a Low Voltage system is included,
> even if qualified as "free-air per code" or similar,
> always provide backboxes and conduit stub-ups for outlets
> in other than units.
Joel confirmed this direction is not region specific.

Regarding [[statistical-modeling-for-construction-estimating#Average Distance Given Area]]:
I'd like to look further into this topic.
Multi-family has several factors that make run distances more consistent than the kitchen sink roster I was used to.
Area per unit falls within a predictable range.
Floors are long and narrow to ensure all units have windows.

## BPM Tasks Meeting
Regarding [[conest-pre-takeoff-email-template#Tasks/Quotes Needed for WBS]]:
Intent is to reduce WBS turnaround,
reduce time spent sitting on WBS's completed
except for pending tasks.
A task is "missing"
if it is necessary to complete the WBS
and it is not already open (or completed) in BPM.
* **BPM > Bid History:** Tasks within the current Bid Round
* **BPM > Tasks:** Tasks outside of Bid Round
Tasks > 1. Open Tasks
Tasks > 2. Completed Tasks
* Constructability Review
* Coordination Studies
* DAS Pathway Design
If all necessary tasks are open or completed:
"No tasks missing."
Prompted by Joel,
Josh clarified that "... Raceway Design" tasks
are not necessary for Low Voltage, Telecom systems,
only Public Safety DAS.
