# Unit Takeoff
## Info
"Units" includes [[#hotel]] and [[#residential]] spaces.
> [!info] Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Terms
> * hearing impaired (HI or H.I.)
> * hearing impaired communication (HC or H.C.)
> * mobility features (MF or M.F.)
> * accessible (Acc.)
> * usually refers to mobility features.
### Hotel
> [!info] Also Known As
> * Guestrooms
> * Keys
> [!trivia]
> The term "key" as a synonym of "hotel room" is a synecdoche,
> referring to the unit's door key.
> In the pre-digital days of hotel management,
> one could count the rooms of a hotel
> by the keys behind the front desk.
### Residential
> [!info] Also Known As
> * Condos - resident-owned
> * Apartments - resident-rented
## Sequence
### 1. Estimate preparation
1. Locate Unit panels and relevant keynotes
* bus amps
2. Read about the project specifications and construction type
* partition framing (wood or metal studs)
* stud depth
* wiring methods (NM or MC)
* wiring device plates (decora or standard)
* wiring device specs (are 15A devices allowed or minimum N5-20R)
* equipment (20A Kitchen and bath)
1. Fill out OneNote
### 2. Takeoff
> [!tip] Preparing for Unit Takeoff
> Units generally have very little variation.
> It is usually best to copy-paste takeoffs
> rather than re-build them for each unit.
1. Kitchen and Bath
2. General assemblies
3. Low Voltage
4. Lighting Fixtures
5. Lighting Control
> [!tip]
> It may be more efficient and neat to not copy switches,
> instead keeping the switch assembly list open
> and creating them new for each unit,
> since the types required can vary greatly between units.
#### Load Centers
| Rating | Assembly |
| ------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| <= 100A | `DIST PANELS & UNIT LOAD CENTERS`/`UNIT LOAD CENTERS - ...`/`... UNIT LOAD CENTER` |
| > 100A | `DIST PANELS & UNIT LOAD CENTERS`/`UNIT LOAD CENTERS - ...`/`... BREAKER PNL` |
Include terminations per [[switchgear]].
#### Shade Control
#### Dedicated Circuit Receptacles
For N5-15R/N5-20R receptacles serving fixed equipment such as:
* refrigerators
* gas ranges
* microwaves
* clothes washers
* hood fans
use single receptacle assemblies, even where shown as duplex.

`COMMON ASSEMBLIES`/`UNITS - MC CABLE ASSEMBLIES`/`GENERAL ASSEMBLIES - METAL STUD`/`UNIT MISC ITEMS - MC - ADJUST ACCORDINGLY`
#### Islands
Use 1 "SLAB / DECK" receptacle for every 2 circuits in the island.
`COMMON ASSEMBLIES`/`UNITS - MC CABLE ASSEMBLIES`/`... RECEPTACLE TAMPER RESISTANT ...`/`... (METAL STUD) - 20' 3/4" PVC, ENT, 3#12 THHN`

### 3. Extension (Review and Checking)
1. Scroll through with Area selected and make sure there is takeoff for each unit type
